About Brilliance
Brilliance Auto Group, officially Huachen Automotive Group Holdings, is a Chinese state-owned car maker. Its headquarters is in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. It was established in 1992 as a subsidiary, and the current structure formed in 2003. Yang Rong founded it.1
The Liaoning Provincial Government owns 80 percent and the Liaoning Social Security Fund owns 20 percent. The parent company entered bankruptcy administration in November 2020. This does not affect the subsidiary Brilliance Auto or its joint ventures.1
Brilliance China Automotive Holdings was incorporated in Bermuda in 1992 and listed in Hong Kong in 1999. It manufactures and sells BMW vehicles in China through BMW Brilliance Automotive. In January 2019, its shareholders approved the sale of 25 percent of BMW Brilliance Automotive to BMW.23
Its subsidiary Jinbei (Shenyang) Automotive plans to make and sell minibuses and multi-purpose vehicles.2
