About Ram
Chrysler announced on October 5, 2009, that it would split the Ram truck brand from the Dodge car brand. The goal was to let each brand focus on its own products.1
Dodge built trucks from 1917. The 1981 Dodge pickups were the first to use the Ram name. Dodge used a ram’s head hood ornament in 1933 and dropped it in the 1950s. Dodge brought the ornament back for 1981.2
MotorTrend described the Ram 1500 of 2013 as having a class-exclusive multi-link live axle coil-spring rear suspension. For 2013 Ram also offered air suspension as an option on Quad Cab and Crew Cab models. The system replaced the four coil springs with air springs.3
