About GMC
GMC is a division of General Motors. William C. Durant established it in 1911 as the General Motors Truck Company. During World War II, GMC Truck produced 600,000 trucks for the United States armed forces.1
GMC specializes in trucks and utility vehicles. General Motors positions it above Chevrolet and below Cadillac. The pickups include the Sierra and the Canyon. The SUVs and crossovers include the Yukon, Yukon XL, Acadia and Terrain. The Savana is a van.1
GM revived the Hummer name as a GMC sub-brand in 2020, with the Hummer EV pickup and SUV. The Sierra EV is also electric.1
GMC vehicles sold in the United States since 1996 support OBD-II.2
