About FIAT
FIAT is an Italian car brand. Giovanni Agnelli and other founders established it on July 11, 1899, in Turin. The name stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino. The first plant opened in 1900 and made 24 cars with 35 staff. FIAT is now part of Stellantis, which formed in January 2021 from the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA.12
The FIAT 500 went on sale in 1957. FIAT has won nine European Car of the Year awards, the most of any maker. The winning models are the 124, 128, 127, Uno, Tipo, Punto, Bravo/Brava, Panda and 500.34
FIAT built the electric 500e for California. The 500e is a compliance car, which means FIAT developed it to meet California rules on zero-emission vehicles.5
European petrol cars have used EOBD since model year 2001, and European diesel cars since 2004.6
