About Cupra
Cupra is a performance brand owned by SEAT S.A., a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. Its headquarters is in Martorell, Spain. The name is short for Cup Racing and comes from the motorsport division of SEAT.1
SEAT used the Cupra badge from 1996 on performance versions of its cars. Cupra became a standalone brand in January 2018.1
The Leon and the Formentor both date from 2020. The Formentor was the first Cupra product that SEAT did not share. The Terramar SUV arrived in 2024.1
The Born, from 2021, and the Tavascan SUV, from 2023, are electric models. Cupra production reached 246,749 units in 2023.1
European petrol cars have used EOBD since model year 2001, and European diesel cars since 2004.2
