About Ford

Henry Ford and twelve investors signed the articles of incorporation for the Ford Motor Company in Detroit on June 16, 1903.1

Ford introduced the Model T in 1908. In October 1913, Ford began to use a moving assembly line at the Highland Park factory in Michigan. The line cut the assembly time for a car from 12.5 hours to 93 minutes. Ford ended Model T production on May 26, 1927, after 19 years and about 15 million cars.234

During World War II, Ford built B-24 Liberator bombers at the Willow Run plant at the rate of one per hour.2
