About LTI

LTI is London Taxis International, the later trading name of the coachbuilder Carbodies. Robert Jones set up the business in Coventry, England, in 1919. The company took the name London Taxis International in 1992.12

Manganese Bronze Holdings bought BSA, the former owner of Carbodies, in 1973.1

The TX1, introduced in 1997, replaced the FX4 taxi. The TXII replaced the TX1 in 2002. It used a 2.4-litre Ford Duratorq diesel engine and had a fold-down wheelchair ramp. The TX4 later replaced the TXII.34

The company traded as The London Taxi Company, and Manganese Bronze entered administration in October 2012. Geely bought the main assets in February 2013. The successor company became the London EV Company in 2017.5
