About Polestar
Polestar is an electric car brand with headquarters in Torslanda, outside Gothenburg, Sweden. It became a standalone electric brand in 2017. Its origins go back to Flash Engineering, a Swedish racing team founded in 1996.1
Li Shufu’s PSD Investment, Geely Holding and Volvo Cars own Polestar. As of June 2025, PSD Investment holds 44 percent, Geely holds about 22 percent and Volvo Cars holds 16 percent. The company trades on Nasdaq under the symbol PSNY.1
The Polestar 2 is a compact executive car built in China. It has been in production since 2020. The Polestar 3, a mid-size electric SUV, and the Polestar 4, a compact coupe SUV, have been in production since 2024.1
