About Scion

Scion was a Toyota brand that aimed at younger buyers in the United States. It began operations in June 2003 with the xA and xB in California.1

Scion used a fixed-price sales method called Pure Price. Dealers advertised one price with no haggling, and each car came in a single trim level with many options for customization.1

The models included the xB hatchback, the tC coupe, the xA and the xD. Later models were the iQ city car, the FR-S sports car, the iA sedan and the iM hatchback. Sales peaked at 173,034 units in 2006. Scion sold more than 1 million vehicles from 2003 to 2015.1

Toyota announced the end of the brand on February 3, 2016. The brand ended in August 2016. The FR-S, iA and iM moved to the Toyota brand, and the tC was retired.23
