About Saab

Saab Automobile began as a division of the Swedish aerospace company Saab AB, which was established in 1937. The car work began with the experimental Ursaab in 1947. The Saab 92 went into production in December 1949. Later models include the 96, 99, 900, 9000, 9-3 and 9-5.123

Saab AB merged with Scania-Vabis in 1969 to form Saab-Scania. In 1990, General Motors acquired the automobile business. GM sold Saab to the Dutch maker Spyker in 2010.13

Saab filed for bankruptcy on December 19, 2011. NEVS, a Chinese-owned company, bought the business, and it lost the right to use the Saab name in 2014.3

The United States requires OBD-II on all new passenger cars sold from model year 1996, so Saab cars from that year onward support it.4
